Magnificent Mo!

This week Year 1 have been learning all about the British athlete Mo Farah.

We read all about him and wrote some super questions and facts.

We enjoyed the story ‘Ready Steady Mo!’ by Mo Farah, Kes Gray and Marta Kissi. We retold it using Explain Everything on the iPads.

We also learnt Mo’s famous Mobot dance:

Old and new technology

Last week pupils enjoyed learning about Alexander Graham Bell, who invented the first phone.

They looked at how phones have changed and sequenced them from old to new:

They were also fascinated to learn about Steve Jobs, who founded Apple and created the devices we use at home and at school. We enjoyed discussing how Apple technology has evolved from the Apple 2 computer to the latest iPhone!

Lexia at home

Your child will be given a letter today about using Lexia Reading Core 5 at home. Here is a copy of the letter. The children use Lexia at school for 4 half hour sessions per week.

It is very important that you do not help your child in any way whilst they are using Lexia. It is designed to be an independent reading intervention and helping your child may result in them accessing activities and school follow-up work that are not best suited to their stage.

Many thanks for your continued support,

Miss Kingsley and Miss Coggan
